No training this Sunday
There will be no training this Sunday (5th Sept). Sessions will continue as normal on Monday 6th.

News Brief!

I would just like to advise you of a number of events that we are organising over the next year, to introduce a more social side to the club that we hope you will all enjoy and participate in. Some events are to raise funds to provide new equipment for our club, ie floats, swimming aids etc and to raise our profile. Other events are just for pure entertainment to allow us all to have a good time and get to know each other socially outside the pool too!!

Sponsored Swim Thursday 16th September

The first event and to get the ball rolling, will be a sponsored swim. We have tried very hard to get this event on a weekend to incorporate a social event afterwards but to no avail due to the difficulty of getting 2 hours of swim time in a public pool. We have therefore had to make the decision to complete the swim on a club night. ( I know there will be disappointment for those who were hoping that we could have run it at the Portishead Lido – unfortunately we were let down last minute!) I would like to encourage all our club members to help with this very important event and it is open to all ages including all our youngest members. There will be certificates awarded and prizes for distance and funds raised. Attached with this communication is a sponsorship form ( further forms will be available on our website to download). To make the event more fun, I would like to encourage parents and helpers on the night to come along in fancy dress – there will be a prize for the best dressed!!

So please do come along and support this event – we really do need to get some new equipment!! We will be having a cake sale on the night and will be looking for donations so get Great Aunt Ethel’s cake recipes out!

Drayton Manor Sunday 26th September

After speaking to members, it became clear that the majority were keen to go to a theme park for the day. We have decided to organise a trip to Drayton Manor near Birmingham. As well as having the big thrill rides, it also has a Zoo and smaller rides for our younger members. The cost for the day is £27.50 each, this includes entry and coach travel. Under 4’s are free but will need to pay for a seat on the coach. Places will be on a first come first served basis. The coach will be leaving Bishopsworth pool at 08.00am and aim to be back in Bristol at 8.00pm. If you would like tickets please see Allison Shepard, Michelle Morgan or ring Sam Adams on 07584163206.It will be a great day out for all of us so make sure you get your tickets quickly!

Christmas Party

We are hoping to organise a Christmas Party this year – this will be run along the lines of an American Supper basis, similar to our Club presentation night to keep the costs down at this expensive time of year! As soon as we have agreed on a date we will let you know further details.Other fund raising ideas

To continue with our need for fund raising, we will also be looking at approaching local supermarkets to engage in some bag packing. This is usually a good way of earning some money, however we do need the support of parents to help out. As soon as we have any more details we will update you accordingly and look forward to your help with this really important task.

Thank you for reading this brief and we look forward to seeing you at our events. If you have any ideas or would like to get more involved in the social side please give me a call

Sam Adams tel 07584163206.
